Except I’m not going to do all 30 days
because I’m lazy. Just because.
Day 1 – 10 things about your lolita bubble.
Assuming this just means 10 random facts about how I feel regarding any part of the lolita fashion pertaining to me…
- I dabble in a bit of everything.
No, really. I like gothic, sweet, classic, casual, whatever. There’s a different sort of beauty in every style, though the gothic lolita style appeals to me the most with its elegance and simplicity. Otome-kei isn’t lolita but its simple sweetness really appeals to me too! As such, I tend to purchase a lot of Emily Temple cute and Moi meme Moitie.
- Border prints = ♥!
I prefer border prints a lot more to tiled prints. More often than not, tiled prints just end up looking so messy to me :( I think this is my OCD complex speaking, lol.
Ironically, my most-likely-to-be-favorite dress, the Stained Glass print from the BTSSB x Koitsukihime collaboration, is a tiled print instead of border. 壁]･_･`)
C’mon, do I really need to elaborate on this? Practicality calls even when one is in frills! Angelic Pretty deserves much, much points in this aspect.
- I rarely buy stuff first-hand.
Simple reason: Too expensive. Of course, there’s also the fact that I just seem to prefer the ‘old-school’ stuff in terms of design most of the time, so I guess it sort of works out? Although, in the case of the lolita fashion, secondhand stuff aren’t necessarily cheaper due to rarity and other factors, so it’s a bit ambiguous.
- Religious motifs and prints
I know it’s going to be a tad sacrilegious to devout Christians and/or Catholics but I really adore religious motifs and prints, even though I’m a free-thinker. There’s always something really beautiful about them that I can’t put into words. By default, this makes me an instant convert of Moi meme Moitie, lol. I still lust after Juliette et Justine too, but somehow, I’ve never even owned a thread of JeJ even after so many years.
- I don’t actually like wearing it.
‘It’ being lolita fashion. Ironic, isn’t it? But it’s true! I mean, it’s so uncomfortable with all these cumbersome layers, Singapore weather is always unforgiving, my hair keeps going flat all the time and… well, yeah. It’s uncomfortable. :( The only things keeping me in this are the fact that I still haven’t gotten everything that I want, and friends who share this same interest.
- I think hair things and hosiery are super-essentials in lolita.
These are items that should be present in almost every lolita outfit, in my humble opinion. It just doesn’t look complete without them, so I can never really understand why people would choose to forgo either. Sweltering heat, yeah, I totally know, but look, I still wear my socks even in forever-summer Singapore, so what’s your excuse?
- I absolutely hate traveling in lolita.
And I’m not even talking about cross-country sort of traveling. I mean regular getting from Place A to Place B within the same country. Why? Because after so many years, I still hate people gawking at me. I can’t decide whether sweet lolita (not deco-loli) or gothic lolita garners more attention but the bottomline is that I just don’t like it. And I don’t think I’ll ever get desensitized.
I can’t think of anything else to write on *sobsob* So it shall be 8 things about your lolita bubble instead of 10!
